Badra Dolunay is a professional Belly Dancer. Born in Mexico City, she inheritated the latin temperament and love for music and dance. She already did Hawaiian dance since she was in the womb of her mom.
Dreaming about exotic worlds and trying to find new ways to express her soul curiosity, she starts learning Belly Dance in 2002 at a prestigious university of mexico city: Tecnológico de Monterrey, CCM. Dinarza (her first teacher) introduced her in the world of middle east with the conviction that this art goes beyond any Occidental stereotype of any kind. In this sense, this dance is for women (and ALSO men) of any age, complexion, faith and way of thinking. In this early period of her dance Badra learned that the feeling in dance is the most rich spice to enrich this art.
An "curiosity itchiness" made her move on to learn more and study with Samira, the most well known and respected teacher in all mexico. Thanks to her, Belly Dance was introduced to this country. Badra then learns more about technique, rythms and styles. Samira seems to be "Arabia on feet"...
Samira organized a seminar with Amaya, an exquisite own will Belly Dancer from the USA. In this training Badra trained some secrets to dance on stage as well as belly dance fusion with gypsy style, charming dance of the fan
. In the meanwhile Badra finishes the career of Industrial Design which opens a world of museography and customs to her.
After that Badra marries and moves with her husband to the Netherlands and she meets Gadisha, a lovely delightful Dutch Belly Dancer. With her she improves temperament and technique. Badra gets the opportunity to explore the theater applied to belly dance. She gets the opportunity to make a solo in the "Kulturel Amateur Manifestatie" KAM, a Dutch cultural event in the heart of breda where all the people show their abilities in music, dance and culture. It is an important year event.
Gadisha recomends Badra to go and study with Nuriyya in Brussels. Nuriyya is a professional belly Dancer, member of the International dance Council at UNESCO and teacher that works hand to hand with Dr. professor Hassan Khalil. There she is actually taking the training called "Danseuse Orientale Ègyptienne" (Egyptian Oriental Dancer).
Badra has also studied with Kitiera in her Modrom (fusion with jazz) style and followiing Suhaila Salimpour's format. The latest seminar that Badra took was last 6 of december of 2008 with Hayat El Helwa, an outstanding excellent Brasilian teacher that learned her Ballady, Ghawzee and samba fusion styles.
